Nightly Question - 5/4/11

Chazal say that all the mitzvot of the Torah are captured by the 10 commandments.
How so? (you know who - I didn't ask you to disprove - I asked you to prove the statement)

  1. The very first commandment can be simply stated as "I am Hashem your G-d who took you out of Egypt. One might ask, "If these are considered the ten commandments (or the ten statements if you want to consider them as such), then how can this very first commandment be followed if there is no real explicit Mitzvah to follow? The real answer is that this first commandment is ordering us to have faith in our one and only G-d. In order to back up our faith, we must follow the 613 commandments all based on this foundation and belief in G-d. Without belief, we have nothing, but once belief is applied, we must take in the 613 Mitzvot that come with it and use those to back up that very first proclamation of faith.
