In the beggining of the semester we were told that parsha quizzes were going to be straight forward and simple as long as we read the parsha a couple of times. Although my parsha quiz grade is average, it seems to me that these "straight foward" quizzes are really not so to the point. We all care about our grades, so obviously, we are going to complain when we receive a low grade. In defense of the whole class, I think these tests aren't so easy and should be quite simpler with less details. Good Tuesday.
I absolutely agree. There is no way to really study for these quizzes. I read over the Parsha and make sure i understand it well, but the questions on the tests are too detailed and as Eli said, "not straight forward," as we were told they would be. And it does not work to say that it isn't so important because it doesn't affect our grade that much, but it does. So far we have 4 grades and 3 of them are Parsha quizzes. And the grades will most likely continue to be in this ratio if we have a Parsha quiz every week. I hope this comment didn't sound mean, but i wanted to get my point across.

I totally agree with this. I, previously, have studied for the past quizzes by reading the Artscroll Chumash a couple of times, but nevertheless, did not do so well on them. As students, of course we are going to care about our grades, and I personally don't believe Rabbi's statement "the participation grades will balance out the quizzes." I am simply saying that at the end of the quarter, we are all going to come to Rabbi about our grades, and he is going to say "you should've come to me about it earlier," even though that is exactly what we did.
